One of the most popular series released last year, this past Tuesday saw the member-voted premiere of One Punch Man, Shonen Jump’s superhero parody series – definitely one to check out. The series will run for 12 episodes and will be in Japanese with English subtitles, due to lack of an English dub at the time of this writing.
With Summer on it’s way, it’s time to go outside! This June we’re hoping to embrace the warmer, sunnier weather with an outdoor picnic. Planned for Saturday 18th June, we’re hoping to make it a day of fun and hopefully the first of many this year. Click here for more details.
With School finally “rumbled” for now (sorry…), NamSoc now moves over to the recent Fantasy/Modern action mish-mash known as GATE. This screening will consist of two 12-episode seasons and will be in Japanese with English Subtitles as no English dub currently exists. This screening is rated 15+ due to violence, language and adult themes.
With Cobra finishing his fight in space, we next take our action back to Earth with the ever-popular Black Lagoon series. The NamSoc screening will be showing all 29 episodes of the series (at the time of this post): 12 episodes of season one, 12 episodes of season two (a.k.a. The Second Barrage) and the third “season” OVA: Roberta’s Blood Trail (consisting of five episodes).
The show has both an English dub and Japanese audio with English subtitles, which will be decided by NamSoc members next Tuesday. It should also be noted that this series is rated 18 by the BBFC due to frequent, strong lanaguge, frequent, bloody violence, drug references, dark themes and shots of nudity.
After a long hiatus, the NamSoc website is back up and fully operational and featuring a cleaner, simpler (and more mobile-friendly) site design. Aspects such as dedicated pages, colour scheme and the suggestions box are going to be worked on over time and updates will be made if something major occurs.
As for the social media pages, the Facebook page will be run by other members, whilst the twitter feed will be updated at least once a month (this may change due to other commitments). The YouTube page will be updated with any other videos produced in the future.
We will try to update the site as often as possible as series selections and events change.
In a bit of a change of pace, NamSoc started showing the slice-of-life cafe comedy Wagnaria!! (otherwise known as “Working!”). Episodes 1 & 2 premiered this previous meet with episode 2 happening next week (18th August). The show will run for 13 episodes.
As a way to break-up Michiko & Hatchin and MADLAX, WAGNARIA!! will be shown between the two shows at two episodes a week. MADLAX will now be in slot 3 at one episode a week.
The show is suitable for ages 12+ and will be in Japanese with English subtitles by default.
