It’s been a long time since this site was updated (nearly 8 months in fact) as Mike and Martin our former webmasters have passed the site to myself, Keith the treasurer, and I’ve been a bit busy to get around to the major update for the site. The site should now load a lot quicker, as well as the next meet date and the currently running shows should be a bit more up to date thanks to an automated date tracker function I’ve written.
At the same time here’s a quick rundown of what we’re currently showing as our slot 1 (Outlaw Star) and slot 3 (Is this a Zombie: Of the Dead) both finished on Tuesday and the polls are in:
Slot 1 will be showing Durarara!! – Language to be decided on the night, 24 Episodes.
Ryuugamine Mikado had always wanted to live the busy city life, and his dream becomes a reality when he moves to Ikebukuro, Tokyo to attend school with a childhood friend he had not seen in years, Kida Masaomi. Upon Mikado’s arrival, Masaomi warns him about relevant people to never cross in the city, such as Heiwajima Shizuo, a violently short-tempered and ridiculously strong man in a bartender suit; Orihara Izaya, a dangerously well-informed information broker; and a mysterious gang known as the Dollars. Mikado does not take long to find that, those clearly dangerous people aside, Ikebukuro is home to many more mysteries, such as a female biker who is known as the Black Rider over riding around town clad in black on a black motorcycle that occasionally neighs like a horse, and who is also rumoured to have no head under her helmet.
Slot 2, the Committee’s Choice, has been showing Yakitate!! Japan – Japanese with English subtitles, 26 Episodes.
(Yakitate!! Japan does have 69 episodes, but we only intend to show 26 unless there is demand for more)
Azuma become obsessed with bread when he was six years old. His sister yelled that their family should start having bread for breakfast sometimes, but their grandfather refused to even consider it, as he would only eat natto, miso soup, and rice for breakfast. Kazuma agreed, saying he didn’t like bread, but his sister kidnaps him and takes him to a bread store to show him the wonders of fresh-baked bread. Not only is Kazuma converted, but the owner discovers that Kazuma has the magical “Hands of the Sun” whose warmth makes them particularly suited to making bread. The owner packs up shop and goes to Tokyo to fulfill his dream of making Japan, but Kazuma continues his bread-baking dream as well, and ends up going to Tokyo himself when he’s sixteen, to compete for a spot at the foremost bread store in Japan – Pantasia!
Slot 3 wil be showing Squid Girl – Language to be decided on the night, 12 Episodes.
Squid Girl, Emissary of the Sea, vows to invade the beaches of mankind since humans have polluted the oceans. Of all the places to make landfall, she happens upon the Lemon Beach House restaurant, conveniently located near the ocean. So Squid Girl decides to make this land structure her new base of operations, for her upcoming inkvasion.
The hardworking tenants of the restaurant — reliable older sister Chizuru, energetic Eiko, and friendly younger brother Takeru — will hear nothing of Squid Girl’s plans though.
Much to Squid Girl’s chagrin, she is not being taken seriously, and it appears that the inkvasion of mankind will become quite a bit more difficult than she could have possibly imagined…
